Celtic music is a term utilised by artists, record companies, music stores and music magazines to describe a broad grouping of musical genres that evolved out of the folk musical traditions of the Celtic peoples of Western Europe. As such there is no real body of music which can be accurately be described as Celtic, but the term has stuck and may refer to both orally-transmitted traditional music and recorded popular music. The latter sometimes has barely even a superficial resemblance to folk music of any of the Celtic cultures, but on the other hand it sometimes represents sincere work towards adapting Celtic traditions for modern, global culture.
Celtic music means two things mainly. First, it is the music of the peoples calling themselves Celts (a non-musical, primarily political definition), as opposed to, say, "French music" or "English music."
Often, the term Celtic music is applied to the music of Ireland and Scotland, because both places have produced well-known distinctive styles which actually have genuine commonality and clear mutual influences; however, it is notable that Irish and Scottish traditional musicians themselves avoid the term "Celtic music," except when forced by the necessities of the market.
For I, it is a music whit very rhythm and very beautiful. And you?
Bye-bye.

THE REBELLION

The last decade of the 1700s was a most important time in Irish history. Republicanis and Loyalism both found real identity, the Orange Order and Maynooth College were both founded as the century ended with the rebellion in Ireland and the subsequent Act of Union. The repercussions of these events define Irish history even up to the modern day.

The rebels were very influenced by the effects of uprisings in America, France and Australia. They seized the opportunity to try to create a society not based on religion but based on democratic principles and freedom of expression. This policy was to prove popular with Irish people of different creeds who all wanted the same thing, freedom from English rule.

This philosophy was to provide a means whereby counter-revolutionaries could try to disrupt the organisation by inciting sectarian hatreds and fears within the movement.

The Irish Republican Brotherhood

Garden of Remembrance
The garden is dedicated to the people who died during the Easter Rising and was opended on its 50th anniversary.

One of the main and lasting effects of the Great Famine of 1845-47 was emigration. The ‘Coffin Ships’ carried tens of thousands of the poorest Irish people who fled Ireland to avoid starvation. They created a new Irish nation within America whilst remembering the injustice of the English occupation of their homeland as well as harboring a deeply felt hatred of landlords and evictions.

A Clann na Gael source estimated that there were over one and a half million people of Irish birth in America towards the end of the nineteenth century. These people supported the republican cause by giving money, weapons and, significantly, a propaganda machine which has continued to this day.

Due to the moderate oceanic climate moderated by the Gulf Stream, the relatively lukewarm climate and the very high dampness the island is covered almost entirely by a meadow in which it predominates over the clover. The rabble is formed from the decomposition of plants as the sphagnum; the Irish meadow possesses a green intense color what has given place to the nickname that is in the habit of receiving.
Due to his isolation from the end of the Wurmiense with regard to the continental areas and even with regard to the Great Britain, the terrestrial autochthonous fauna is poor: some red, shy foxes, hares and very little deer constitute the principal index; the attention is called the newt the shortage of reptiles, only an autochthonous reptile exists. The fauna of birds and amphibious mammals also is reduced by the depredation. For the case, the giant alca - the bird that primeramente was receiving the name of penguin, though it did not concern to the family of the austral penguins was extinguished in the 17th century.

Hello !!!!!

My name is Noelia

Most modern studies of Saint Patrick follow a variant of T. F. O'Rahilly's "Two Patricks" theory. That is to say, many of the traditions later attached to Saint Patrick originally concerned Palladius, a deacon from Gaul who came to Ireland, perhaps sent by Pope Celestine I . Palladius was not the only early cleric in Ireland at this time. Saints Auxilius, Secundinus and Iserninus are associated with early churches in Munster and Leinster. By this reading, Palladius was active in Ireland until the 460s.

Prosper of Aquitaine's contemporary chronicle states:

Palladius was ordained by Pope Celestine and sent to the Irish believers in Christ as their first bishop

Two Latin letters survive which are generally accepted to have been written by Patrick. These are the Declaration (Latin: Confessio) and the Letter to the soldiers of Coroticus (Latin: Epistola). The Declaration is the more important of the two. In it Patrick gives a short account of his life and his mission

Ireland is the successor-state to the Dominion called the Irish Free State. That Dominion came into being when all of the island of Ireland seceded from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland on 6 December 1922. However, the following day the Parliament of Northern Ireland exercised its right under the Anglo-Irish Treaty to opt back into the United Kingdom. This action, known as the Partition of Ireland, followed four attempts to introduce devolved autonomous government over the whole island of Ireland (in 1886, 1893, 1914 and 1920). The Irish Free State was abolished when Ireland was formally established on 29 December 1937, the day the Constitution of Ireland came into force.

The geography of Ireland describes an island in northwest Europe in the north Atlantic Ocean. The main geographical features of Ireland include low central plains surrounded by a ring of coastal mountains. The highest peak is Carrauntoohil (Irish: Corrán Tuathail), which is 1,041 metres (3,414 ft) above sea level. The western coastline is rugged, with many islands, peninsulas, headlands and bays. The island is bisected by the River Shannon, which at 259 km (161 miles) with a 113 km (70 miles) estuary is the longest river in Ireland and flows south from County Cavan in Ulster to meet the Atlantic just south of Limerick. There are a number of sizeable lakes along Ireland's rivers, with Lough Neagh being the largest.

Hello, I am Ana Mª and I'm going to present my essay about Saint Patrick.

History

St. Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland. He was born in the fourth century and he is famous for bringing Christianity into Ireland. When he was 16 years old, he was kidnapped and sold as a slave. After being a slave for 6 years, he escaped and then studied in a monastery in Gual for 12 years. After that, he went from monastery to monastery converting people to Christianity. After 30 years of being a missionary in Ireland, he finally settled down in a place called County Down. He died on the 17th of March, AD 461.

Symbols

Shamrocks and leprechauns are associated with St. Patrick's Day.
Shamrocks are three-leaved clovers. You will ve lucky if you find a four-leaved clover.
Leprechauns are little Irish fairies. The Irish say that if a leprechaun is caught by a human, he will reveal where he hides his pot of gold. On this day, pictures of sahmrocks and leprechauns are hung everywhere.

Celebration

St. Patrick's Day is celebrated world-wide with people dancing and singing in Irish pubs, watching St. Patrick's parade, drinking "green" beer, wearing green clothes and just generally having a good time. Children in Ireland have a tradition of piching their friends who don't were green on this day!!

I hope you have enjoy it!!

Hello¡ I am Ralf ann I present my work of Ireland's military.

Ireland's military are organised as the Irish Defence Forces. The Irish Army is relatively small when compared with other armies in the region, but is well equipped, with 8,500 full-time military personnel (13,000 in the reserve army).[50] This is principally due to Ireland's policy of neutrality,[51] and its "triple-lock" rules governing participation in conflicts whereby approval must be given by the UN, the Government and the Dáil before any Irish troops are deployed into a conflict zone.[52] Deployments of Irish soldiers cover UN peace-keeping duties, protection of Ireland's territorial waters (in the case of the Irish Naval Service) and Aid to Civil Power operations in the state. See Irish neutrality.

There is also an Irish Air Corps, Irish Naval Service and Reserve Defence Forces (Irish Army Reserve and Naval Service Reserve) under the Defence Forces. The Irish Army Rangers is a special forces branch which operates under the aegis of the army.

Over 40,000 Irish servicemen have served in UN peacekeeping missions around the world.

The first Saint Patrick's Festival was celebrated on 17 March, 1996.
In 1997, it became a three-day event, and by 2000 it was a four-day event. By 2006, the festival was five days long.

Now I am going to say something typical of this country:

San Patricio's clover

One of San Patricio's traditions is the clover.
What does mean the clover?. One time, San Patricio raises had to explain what was the
" Santísima Trinidad". In order that they all understood it, a clover used, explaining that the "Santísima Trinidad", as the clover, was the same thing but with three different personalities (the same plant) with three leaves).

It is very normal that in the day of San Patricio there are adorned the shops, bars, colleges and discotheques, with clovers of green color.

-The clover, it is the symbol of San Patricio's holiday.-

ST. PATRICK´S DAY
St. Patrick's Day is celebrated on March 17, his religious feast day and the anniversary of his death in the fifth century.

St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, is one of Christianity's most widely known figures. But for all his celebrity, his life remains somewhat of a mystery. Many of the stories traditionally associated with St. Patrick, including the famous account of his banishing all the snakes from Ireland, are false, the products of hundreds of years of exaggerated storytelling. He was born in the year 387, and he was die in the year 461.

The shamrock, which was also called the "seamroy" by the Celts, was a sacred plant in ancient Ireland because it symbolized the rebirth of spring.By the seventeenth century, the shamrock had become a symbol of emerging Irish nationalism.

HELLO!
Every 17 March, Irish people all over the world celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in honour of Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. Let’s find out what was so special about that person.

When St. Patrick was born, his name actually was not Patrick but Maewyn. He grew up in Wales, but when he was 16, people kidnapped him and sold him into slavery in Ireland.

Maewyn spent six years as a slave in Ireland, but then he escaped and went to Gaul in France where he studied in a monastery for 12 years. Finally, Maewyn became a bishop and adopted the Christian name Patricius (in English: Patrick).

Later Patrick decided to go back to Ireland. Unlike many other missionaries before him, Patrick successfully converted Irish pagans to Christianity because he knew a lot about Irish life and their gods. So Patrick for example did not simply introduce the Christian cross – he put a sun behind it because he knew that the sun was an important symbol for the Irish. The so called Celtic Cross therefore is a cross with a circle symbolising the sun.

Hello

Ireland takes up 70.283 kilometres squares and Ireland of the North takes up 14.148 kilometres squares

This philosophy was to provide a means whereby counter-revolutionaries could try to disrupt the organisation by inciting sectarian hatreds and fears within the movement.

And you?
